This evening there was a combination of things in the sky that is somewhat unusual, and lead to some very spectacular views. There was broken cloud to the west, but a large thunderhead approaching from the east-north-east. From just before sunset to just after sunset, this produced some spectacular views. Some were to the west, where other clouds, including a small cloud that had grown up like a miniature thunderhead anvil, were backlit by the sunset glow. Other views were almost directly overhead, where the west face of the thunderhead anvil was lit by the sun.
