We took a drive to Lahaina one day. Lahaina is an old whaling town with a port, a fort, an old jail-house, historic buildings, a big banyan tree, etc. If you are going to Maui, go to Lahaina for a day. It is a good place to spend a lot of money on really interesting artwork, and just wandering around the downtown area. Parking is scarce right on main street, but there are parking lots nearby.
