I noticed the repairs to this nearby building starting a couple of weeks ago, but I wasn't sure what was happening for a while. This last weekend, a friend and I walked past the building and saw what was going on, up close. But, I didn't have a camera with me. Today I took my cell phone over and tooks some pictures.
While I was there, I bumped into a fellow who was waiting for someone, and is involved with the building. Apparantly the way the building walls were done was an experimental design for dealing with water, and didn't work out. The company doing the work is from Calgary, and he likes what he sees of them. They are replacing the windows as well as the wall facing. They are also changing the balconies from a solid surrounding concrete wall (pigeons love those!) to one using smoked glass panels. They are also replacing patches of brickwork on the building.
Large elevator platforms are being used on the east and west faces of the building, where there are large straight sections. Four or five smaller platforms are being used along other faces, and scaffolding is also being used.
